Description & Explanation: Same as 99238, but for discharges requiring more than 30 minutes of total time on the discharge date.

• Time: More than 30 minutes.

• Documentation Tip: You must document the specific time spent (e.g., “Total discharge time 45 minutes”) to bill this code. “Greater than 30 minutes” is acceptable but specific minutes are preferred for audit defense.
